I’m in the seventh year of painting every sunset – starting January 1, 2006 – having painted many before that, from June 1995. 

Most of the sunsets are seen from the same vantage point, facing the Blue Ridge, in Virginia, north of Charlottesville. Otherwise I paint the sunset view from wherever I happen to be. Even if painted later from a sketch, these paintings are done “alla prima” in around the same time it takes to watch the sun go down.
